Essaouira is a fanciful tourist city located on the Atlantic coast North of Agadir in South-western Morocco. Its natural windy and sunny bay provides an ideal place for kite-surfing and wind-surfing. The town has many archeological sites, notably the Medina which was known as “Mogador” built by the Portugese to ward off invaders, you can still see 16th century brass cannons facing the Atlantic Ocean on the ramparts. This historical site in Essaouira is listed as a Unesco's World Heritage site. Festivals of "Gnaoua" and "World" music" take place in June every year. Camel treks and horseback rides are available along the beach.
